BUI ACCESSORIES

My two greatest loves are Art and Fashion. The creativity that is found in both is inspiring and led me to my latest endeavor. This summer I took a leap and decided that I no longer wanted to simply admire fashion, but create it as well.

As long as I can remember, I have always praised the grand and extravagant English hats that are worn to Royal Ascot or the stunning hair pieces worn by women in the late 1920’s. I wanted to bring back the elegance of that era with touch of sophistication and hint of modernity. This led to the creation of BUI Accessories. The name represents both the woman and the product: Beautiful, Unique and Irresistible. Each hair piece can be perceived as an extension of a woman's unique style and personality.

My hair pieces inspired these photos which illustrate the many fun ways they can be worn. Photography by Chris McPhail Creative and Styling direction by Lora Bui.

I hope to see you all wearing a little “BUI” some day !

Audrey Tautou + Chanel N5 = Perfection!

While working out the other night, I saw the new Chanel N5 commercial with Audrey Tautou - let's just say I was excited seeing it!

In this ad, Audrey represents the perfect blend of femininity, strength & independence - the kind of women Coco Chanel was herself & designed for!

I feel this campaign has added life into Chanel N5. In fact, I feel it has put the essence of Coco Chanel back into her infamous perfume!

Every girl needs a little Chanel!

Welcome to Cardis Bows & Pearls

We are a group of fashion lovers! For a long time now we would meet up for coffees, dinners, etc. to dress up, share our favorite looks and obsess about fashion! Let’s just say the other people in our lives were happy we found each other!

But – we need an outlet! So we’ve created this blog to share our passion with others who also need an outlet for their love of style, design, and everything beautiful!!

We think Mit said it best, when she mentioned that this is also a great way to capture our time together and all the fun things we do!

In this blog we’ll post some of our favorite outfits, new purchases or anything amazing we see!

So much of the romance in fashion is lost outside of the runway in our daily lives! We hope to bring that back and inspire others to dress confidently in what makes them feel special and amazing!

We hope you enjoy this blog as much as us! We encourage anyone to contact us and join in our fun!

See you soon!

Nicole Armstrong

Hi! My name is Nicole Armstrong.

I have 2 passions – fashion and branding! I already have a blog about branding called More Than A Logo. What I love about blogging is the ability to communicate ideas with people who share similar passions as me!

So – my closest girlfriends and I have a strong love for fashion, and it was only natural for us to create an outlet for our passion and hope to inspire others to engage and share in our passion with us!

As for me – I love fashion because it enables people to express who they are, what they want to be, and how they feel! It’s a great outlet to encourage and embrace individuality!

My style is fairly simple. I like clean lines with basic color schemes that work together. You will see me in a lot of grays, blacks, whites, and other neutrals. I do love the occasional splash of color! Red is my favorite – I was once told to always have a bit of red with you as it’s good luck! So, I almost always have bright red nails! That’s another thing about my style – painted nails! To me, having color on your nails is the perfect way to complete your look!

I have a hard time idolizing a specific person, because I love so many styles and various people, because I appreciate the subtle and, sometimes, drastic differences in everyone’s look! But I must say I love Scott Schuman – The Sartorialist – not specifically for his personal style (although it is impeccable), but for his images! I love how he captures so many different styles! They are so inspiring! I always find myself using elements of his many subjects in my daily outfits! Thank you Sartorialist for your amazing shots!

I look forward to this project, and I hope you do too!
Thanks for checking us out!

Lora Bui

Hi, my name is Lora Bui, and yes that is the correct way to spell Lora. However, I prefer to be called “Bui”.

I have always loved fashion, and have recently taken my own leap into the fashion world by starting my own line of hair pieces. I have always been creative and wanted to leave my mark in the fashion world. With the help of my fabulous friends, I have started to dabble in photography as I enjoy showing off our individual styles.

My style, in a few words, can be described as girly, preppy, romantic, simple yet very feminine, very Blair Waldroff (from Gossip Girls). You will find that I am always wearing either skirts, or dresses with cardigans and very rarely will you see me in pants. I am a huge fan of black - my entire wardrobe consist mostly of black, however, with the encouragement of my dear friends, have learned to add colour and patterns. Currently, I am obsessed with the color purple!

I love CHANEL, there are not enough words to describe my obsession and love for Chanel. In a few words, one can say Chanel is my “crack”. I never leave the house without a little Chanel.
My all time favorite quote from Coco Chanel is:
“I don't understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little - if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that's the day she has a date with destiny. And it's best to be as pretty as possible for destiny.”
Thanks, Bui

Brittany Parent

Hello readers, my name is Brittany Parent.

The world of blogging fascinates me in the way it brings power to ordinary people, enabling them to share their thoughts, passions, frustrations and lives with a global audience. As a first foray into blogging, fashion is perfect, as there are so many angles to personal style and I never tire of experimenting!

My love for fashion stems from an overall fascination and need for beauty in my life. I strongly identify with a quote made by Mary Kate Olsen, “Everything I do has to be visually appealing to me”. I am truly affected and inspired by my visual environment and like to imagine myself interacting harmoniously within it, i.e., complimenting the scenery with the perfect outfit. I believe that fashion can be a way in which to live life artfully and communicate who we are and who we wish to be. Fashion gives people the confidence to live life with a sense of fun and creativity.

As for my personal style, it’s always changing and undoubtedly inspired by the music and people I am surrounded by. The easiest way to classify it would be eclectic. I love to mix classic with bohemian, with attention to interesting textures and quality fabrics. I’m a sucker for a luxuriously slouchy leather bag and I am just discovering the art of wearing all black.

I normally gather inspiration from reading Nylon and French Vogue, because I enjoy modern looks that push typical boundaries. One style icon would definitely be Kate Moss. I admire her ability to mix high and low fashion to perfect execution. Additionally, growing up and living in a fairly conservative city, I love seeing confident women who aren’t afraid to rock a look so dramatic that they could be walking the streets of New York or Paris.

I hope that this blog can provide and provoke excitement around performing the everyday woman’s task of simply putting outfits together and inject some frivolity into your day!

Angela Liu

What do finance, snowboarding and fashion have in common? All are among my favorite things and all have an element of thrill and excitement associated with it.

The thrill of having the wind in my face and freedom on the mountain, the excitement of completing a deal or learning about financial derivatives ;) these are rivaled by the feeling of scoring a fabulous fashion find, a statement piece and exploring the styling possibilities; and then sharing the exhilaration with my best girlfriends.

For me, fashion is a creative outlet that is such a departure from what I do in my everyday life. Not only do I love clothing and accessories, but I appreciate the artistry, history and evolution of fashion. To me, it is an art form, expression of individuality and most importantly a projection of myself to the world and how I want the world to see me.

There is a duality to my style. The weekday look includes many neutrals and is classic, conservative and versatile with a twist, skirt suits or sheath dresses with a statement necklace or bag, a little Katherine Hepburn mixed with a little Audrey Hepburn. The weeknights/weekend look is more avant garde and louder. I love mixing bold colours (hot pink and yellow DO go together!) and wearing sky high heels! One thing that ties my style together is femininity. I have penchant for dresses – a fabulous dress can always make me feel confident.

I see this blog is a way for my best girls to always continue share in our passion and stay connected to each other, no matter where we are and where our lives take us.
